It is a pleasure and a privilege to be able to serve the mental health community in Southern Virginia. For me, this is more than a career-it's a passion. I began in this field as a clinician and fell in love with it, and now I get to infuse this passion into every aspect of my business.
We work with Medicaid clients with mental health diagnoses, who have at least one active psychotropic prescription, and a history of hospitalization for psychiatric issues. This means that our clients must confront challenges posed both by their mental illnesses and by the culture of poverty on a daily basis. Many of our clients face multiple daily living challenges which impede their ability to live the best life they can, including housing issues, substance abuse, legal troubles, and financial problems.
Through our Mental Health Skills Building Program we provide one-on-one training sessions to help our clients learn to manage their mental health diagnoses using learned coping strategies and acquire independent living skills to manage their lives. Our Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program provides clients with the opportunity to learn independent living skills, manage their mental health and develop healthy lifestyle changes in a group setting. The ultimate goal is increase the client's ability to function in society until they are able to achieve complete independence. In other words, we're in the business of working to put ourselves out of a job.
Our clinicians are on the "front lines" and their commitment to serving our clients and helping them lead more stable, peaceful, and productive lives continually inspires me anew. Witnessing their dedication lifts me up and energizes me to fulfill my duties as leader and adviser with equal fervor. I pride myself in building a team that reflects who I am as a person and my heartfelt commitment to the important work that we do. That's why our motto is, "Where people are our priority." At Trinity, we're not just running a business --we're on a mission. Putting the client's needs first is a job requirement and our most important guiding principle.
